US stocks end mixed after disappointing data
Eight of the 11 primary sectors of the S&P 500 ended lower, with profits and real estate falling 1.95 percent and 1.81 percent, respectively, leading the losses. Finance rose 1.97 percent, the best-performing group.
Initial jobless claims from the United States totaled $ 1.87 billion in the week ending May 30, as the consequences of COVID-19 continue to plague the nation and weigh on the labor market, the Labor Department reported Thursday. The reading beat a Dow Jones estimate of $ 1.775 million.
The level from the previous week changed to 3,000, from 2,123 million to 2,126 million, the department said.
